Orange Theatre Company (OTC) is excited to return to the stage in Amsterdam, from December 2 - 13, with a darkly, funny original adaptation of the most beloved Christmas story of all time: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens! Directed by Marcus Coenen and adapted by Hugh Mackay, OTC celebrates this Christmas Classic with an Orange twist and many Carols, set in Marleystadt, a snow-covered 1930s Alpine town where Christmas has become a business.
A Christmas Carol is a tirade against selfishness and neglect, and a story about community, empathy and change. What would the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet To Come reveal today?
In Marleystadt, Ebenezer Scrooge is rebranding Christmas as "Xmas,"stripped-down, profit-first, at the expense of loyal clerk Bob Cratchit's family, including ailing Tiny Tim. When business partner Jacob Marley returns from the dead as a warning, three unforgettable spirits take over. One impossible night. A past reckoned with. A future where greed opens the door to something far darker.
