Course Description
Join OTC's first audition prep course for students 11 - 18 years old. This course is for students who are looking for personalized feedback and want to experience a intensive that will help prepare you for your next audition. All audition prep courses are rooted in techniques needed to take your performance to the next level. Each student will be asked to bring in either a 16 bar cut of a song or a 1 minute monologue to work on throughout the course. Due to the nature of the course we will have to limit participants to 12 total. We will break the class into Group 1 and 2 this means some weeks you'll be workshopping and some weeks you'll be observing. However, even though students won't be workshoping their audition every class it is very useful and important for them to attend all classes. As an actor you learn from watching others just as much as workshoping your own material. It's a great way to learn how to impiment new techniques and see them working in real time.
Course Schedule
Week 1: intro (games, intro to techniques and prep work)
Week 2: First round of Feedback workshoping (Group 1)
Week 3: First round of Feedback workshoping (Group 2)
Week 4: Second round of Feedback workshoping (Group 1)
Week 5: Second round of Feedback workshoping (Group 2)

Meet OTC's Lead Teachers & Coordinators!
Joanna is a professional actress who has worked in theatre, television and film in the UK and the Netherlands. When not on stage herself, she loves to share her knowledge and training with young people, working in schools and with individuals as a workshop leader and coach, teaching theatre skills, Shakespeare and storytelling. She’s constantly inspired by the young people she works with, encouraging them to find their own voice, and delights in watching their confidence grow! It has always been an ambition to start a Youth Theatre, in the hope of providing the kind of enhancing experience she had growing up: The opportunity to make new friends who have the same love of performing, growing together and creating theatre. She wants to support and nurture potential, whilst developing a whole host of valuable life skills along the way – confidence, organization, team work, public speaking and empathy.
Elyse has two great passions in life, one is her love of theatre and the other is teaching children. She has been a teacher for the past 15 years in NYC and the Netherlands. During her time in NYC Elyse graduated from AMDA, a prestigious program concentrating solely in singing, acting, and dancing. In addition to her studies, Elyse has been involved in many productions as an actress, director, producer, and casting director. Currently, Elyse is the Artistic Director of Orange Theatre Company, the English language theatre company of Amsterdam.
From an early age Elyse has been surrounded by theatre, she found that the skills learned in theatre classes extended far beyond the stage. That theatre can be a way to express yourself, to grow your confidence, and create friendships that last a lifetime.
