The Last Five Years
Written and Composed by Jason Robert Brown
December 2020
There are two sides to every love story.
The Last Five Years is an emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years. Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress open their hearts and minds as they tell their side of the relationship, proving there are always two sides to every story. Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order (beginning at the end of the marriage), and Jamie's told in chronological order (starting just after the couple first meet).
